Accredited nursing schools provide nursing students with an opportunity to participate in federally funded and state entitled nursing programs, which provide students with a high standard of education and helps them develop the skills they need to be effective and proficient in their field of study.
Accredited nursing schools also provides students who have graduated from a previous accredited nursing school the ability to attend other accredited colleges or universities where they can transfer their credits and continue their education towards pursuing advanced studies towards earning their BSN (bachelors of science in nursing), MSN (masters of science in nursing) and/or NLP (Doctorate’s in nursing practice) nursing degree.
Colleges and/or universities wishing to become accredited schools or maintain their accreditation must demonstrate their ability to continually provide their students with adequate education and training so that their students can pass the national licensing exam provided by their state.
Schools that fail to maintain such high standards risk losing accreditation or may not become accredited at all.
Because of this and other high standards schools are forced to maintain students who attend an accredited college can feel assured that they are receiving the education and training they need to be effective their in profession once they receive their degree and graduate from the nursing program.
It also means that many accredited colleges and universities will tend to look for students who are dedicated, have a high desire to succeed and show a certain level of competence in their study, which can increase the competition students face for getting accepted into a nursing program at an accredited college or university, however those who do get accepted into the program will receive a great education and the ability to transfer to another accredited school once they complete their education.
Attending an accredited college or university may also improve their odds of finding a job and getting employed in the health care industry since most employers prefer to hire students who have been trained under a nationally established and accredited nursing school.
